Meet the Twins
Not the Wonder Twins. Though they come from a similar world. Vanessa and Vincent come from a world of super heroes and super villains. Many of them might strike some people as familiar, but that's just because certain archetypes exist in every world.

Vanessa lived most of her life rather sheltered. She rarely went anywhere without her mother, was home schooled and wanted for nothing. The only rule she really had was, don't trust men, and no matter what strange noises she might hear, never EVER go into the attic. Finally one night when mother was out, Vanessa could stand the curiosity no longer and broke that second rule.

And met her brother.

Vincent lived almost his entire life locked in the attic of his mother's house. The twins were the product of a rape (allegedly by some supernatural creature), and their birth drove her over the edge. Believing all men, in particular her son to be evil, she kept the boy imprisoned, and regularly took her rage out on him. In ways that left him scarred both physically and emotionally.

Their mother was sent on a mental institution and Vanessa found that despite her lifelong hatred and distrust of men, her brother was an exception. And he, gradually came to trust her as well.

Vanessa has the power to see, speak to, and interact with spirits as if they were physical beings, even control them to a certain extent. Vincent for his part has a second sight that allows him to see the energy that gives people super powers. Usually this manifests itself as an aura around them.
